From the moment I arrived I was welcomed in a warm and friendly manner by both sets of coaches. Given the game was a local derby I had prepared myself for a keenly contested game (of which it was) however it has to be stated that respect towards me and each other was of the highest order, not that passion and commitment was missing far from it. The above agues well for the obvious input from both sets of coaches/officials. In the whole of the game I cannot recall an incident of dissent that merited me taking action, as was the case with parents/spectators whose conduct and questioning was done with respect to the fore, that then allowed me to explain my decisions. The conduct of both sets of spectator/parents was of the highest order (not that they were not passionate or partisan, far from it), one can see where the commitment and respect the players showed comes from. Would you please pass on my thanks and appreciation to all concerned, not forgetting the absolute fairness of both club linemen. Finally the goalkeeper for Wetherby put in an outstanding performance with some world class saves, one being a penalty save alongside those saves he took a volley full in his face and still continued. the one and only winner today was the good reputation of the game, one again please pass on my thanks ....Martin

I'm Scarborough Ladies open age manager and club chairman, and I volunteer as a ref for the juniors. I refereed your u16 game with our girls this morning, and just wanted to congratulate your players, coaches and supporters for being an absolute credit to your club. The players and coaches never gave up despite the score not being in their favour from early on, and behaved brilliantly throughout. And the supporters, decked out in their brilliant black and orange scarves, encouraged the girls in the right way from start to finish. Having had unpleasant reports from previous games this season involving other clubs at u16 level it was a delight to referee and enjoy the game today. Top marks to your club for obviously doing things right for the benefit of the girls and for the enjoyment of the game.
Best wishes to all your teams for the rest of the season
