World Cup Stars Meet Wetherby Girls

World Cup Stars Inspire Wetherby Girls.
It's not everyday that you meet 5 international football stars, but that's what happened to three Wetherby Girls u16 footballers when they were guests of Doncaster Rovers Belles this week. The  Belles took on Manchester City Women in the Continental Cup cheered on by the Wetherby girls. Manchester City boasted 5 international players including England Captain Steph Houghton, goalkeeper Karen Bardsley and World Cup super goal hero Lucy Bronze.
"We enjoyed the game, but it was also great to meet the England stars and players from both teams after the match. Such a friendly atmosphere " said super striker Lisa Clarke.
Wetherby defender Charlotte Hawksworth was very pleased " We were really happy that the players, including some of the World Cup stars, took so much time to talk to us, sign autographs and take pictures".
"Steph, Lucy and team mates are certainly doing their best to inspire the next generation of women footballers and build on the World Cup success. We were so impressed by them" said midfield dynamo Jess Walker.
" We were delighted to welcome the Wetherby U16 girls to the Keepmoat" said Mark Donnelly of Doncaster Rovers Belles " we are so pleased they enjoyed the match and meeting the players after the game. We are always keen to welcome local teams to watch the Belles in action".
